Instruction PCMFlash Module 58 – VAG DSG/CVT

Module 58, designed to work with the ECU, DSG and CVT. It supports writing on ” OBD ” (the main purpose – tuning), as well as work in BOOT mode (the main purpose – repair) – read and write memory of the processor, as well as external eeprom. For BOOT mode, a direct connection to the gearbox connector is used, but without opening the ECU. OBD work is supported for UDS variants of ECU

Work on OBD: as usual with other packages, there are no features, in case of recording interruption, you can turn off the ignition, then just record. In the case of “bricking” unsuccessful you can rewrite in the BOOT.

Work BOOT: use a direct connection to the connector of the control UNIT, the switching power supply is carried out either manually or (recommended) by using the scheme of automatic power control, powered by L-line (same PowerBox or converted from KESS). In case of manual control, the entrance to the boot mode may not happen on the first attempt.

Read DQ500: only when connected directly! NOTE: the power supply must be switched manually, while only the ignition must be switched on or off (pin 15), the second contact must be connected constantly!

Operation in BSL with VL300 / V30: requires drilling a single hole in the minimum diameter cap in order to insert a needle into it. Needle through a resistor 1 kOhm is connected to the mass. It is mandatory to connect to-line and it is highly recommended to use auto power to quickly “feel” the pin on the Board. The photos below show the drilling location and the point on the Board where the needle should go.

Instructions for use:

Work on OBD (can read / write the working SOFTWARE, access to EEPROM is not supported): with Ford vehicles can work on OBD protocols supported GGDS and KWP. C Volvo, JLR-fresh cars are supported via GGDS.

Attention: writing in vbf files and also converting them is not SUPPORTED. The problem is that the update requires a sequential write of three (?) files to be held in the same session, which the loader does not support.

Work in Boot-requires a direct connection to the connector. In this mode, you can access both the internal memory of the processor and the external EEPROM. Ie you can make a full clone of TCM. Work in BOOT mode is possible in the car, but you need to try and get used to it. To successfully enter the mode, you must enable recovery mode and select manual power management. The ignition is switched on at the request of the program. Performance in this mode is not guaranteed.

A few words about cloning when replacing the TCM. The hardware number is engraved on the TCM in the area of the loop attachment to the Board, but to see it you need to Unscrew the hydroblock. The room has a view of 7M5R-14C247-xx. The same number will be visible when reading the EEPROM. Performance is guaranteed only if the number matches, otherwise – as luck would have it. The most recent revision for the TCM of the first generation has a number 7M5R-14C247-FA. In principle, those who are engaged in repair, already have experience.

Direct connection to the connector (it is important to have a 120 Ohm resistor on the can bus).

Instruction PCMFlash Module 57 – SIMOS 8/10/11/PCR2.1

SIMOS 8.xx was installed to Audi with large motors. SIMOS 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5 work via OBD, without the need for any action. For 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5 provided the base ori files (full dump, it is possible to upgrade the software). SIMOS 8.6 requires unlocking in BSL mode by the appropriate module. Instructions below.

ECU PCR 2.1 were installed on various vehicles group VAG diesel engine 1.6TDI requires BSL unlocking.

Please note: where available real reading, only the calibration area is subtracted (not the full dump), in this case, pay attention to the version of the calibrations coincided with the current version of SW, otherwise you will get a brick after write. Work very carefully, only SIMOS 8.1/8.2 ECU can be restored via module 53 (Tricore BSL). The rest will have to change to new ones.

Simos 8.4 ECU can also be unlocked, in which case real reading will be available. But I recommend using the ori files that are attached.

ECU marking usually includes another digit at the end of the name, for example SIMOS 8.23. For us it does not matter, from the point of view of the program is 8.2.

If the check is disabled, you do not need to unlock it.

The essence of the unlock-modification of the external EEPROM installed in the unit. So before unlocking it is suggested to read EEPROM and save. For ECUs PCR2.1 loader displays the current lock status when identifying in BSL mode (if set). For SIMOS 8.6 does not displayed.

Each press of the “Initialization”button in BSL mode changes the lock status to the opposite. So be careful what you do.

How to work with blocks that require unlocking (PCR2.1, SIMOS8.6):

1) Check the current lock status in the car, if the check is disabled, you can go to read-write, otherwise follow the instructions
2) Remove the unit from the car, open it, transfer the processor to BSL mode using the connection below (PCR2.1, SIMOS8.6), the work as a whole as in the package 53 (you can use tools like powerbox, and you can do without them)

3) Choose “SIMOS8.6 (EEPROM/UNLOCK/BSL) or PCR2.1 (EEPROM/UNLOCK/BSL)” depending of ECU type
4) Click Identification – save ECU data somewhere in a text file.
5) Click Read – save the EEPROM

It does not present any difficulties. It is important only to understand that when reading the unlocked ECU you get not full dump, but only calibrations. In this case, recording is possible only if the SOFTWARE version is the same. If ori file was taken from base ori files attached to the module, then there are no such restrictions, the ECU can be “updated”.
